Screening copyrighted
movies at an Arizona Mobile Cinema event usually
requires a public performance license. If you are
hosting your own PRIVATE movie night (on private property) you
won't need one.
Obtaining a public
performance license is a simple process. Arizona Mobile
Cinema cannot purchase the license for you, but we can
help make it easy for you to obtain it. Here's what you do:
For Public
Performance Events |
|
|
First Step:
Select the
movie title for your event. If you’re not sure,
contact us and we’ll help guide you as to which titles
attract the biggest audience.
Second Step: Contact us to schedule your cinema
event and we can help guide you in obtaining your public
performance license.
Third Step: Contact one of the companies listed
under "Resources" to order your copyright license.
Fourth Step: Normally the companies listed
(Swank/Criterion) will simply bill your credit card for
the license. They will notify you of any restrictions
and they’ll send you a printed license for screening the
title at one address on a specific date. They will
supply you with a DVD or you may be able to bring your
own. |

|
|
Note: If your event is
cancelled or rescheduled, you can still retain your movie
rights for up to 12 months. Simply contact the licensing agent
(see Resources list to the right) for more information. |

Studio Restrictions
|
|
|
In general, if it's
available on DVD it can be presented. Some filmmakers, such
as Disney and its subsidiaries, have somewhat restricted use
of their movie titles for outdoor settings. Please contact
Arizona Mobile Cinema or
Swank
to learn more.
Following the necessary guidelines for copyrighted movies is
important for legally hosting cinema events. By abiding the
copyright licensing laws, Arizona Mobile Cinema and
its clientele help support outdoor-indoor cinema
entertainment for years to come. |
